The Company

For over a decade Follow Productions has been one of television’s leading producers of high-quality lifestyle programming. The company has produced thousands of hours of television shows and specials. Starting in 1999, Follow Productions – led by Gordon Elliott – hit the ground running and very quickly turned out a string of successful series, including Doorknock Dinners, Paula Deen’s Home Cooking, and Road Tasted. By breaking out of traditional cooking environments and emphasizing “real world” elements, these shows helped Food Network greatly expand its viewership in both daytime and primetime.

Other networks soon recognized Follow’s ability to build strong formats and personality driven brands. Most recently, Follow Productions has created the daytime talk show hit, The Chew, on ABC along with successful series including the top-rated Farmhouse Rules, Pati’s Mexican Table, Extra Virgin, and Not My Mama’s Meals. Follow Productions looks to continue its success in finding television’s next star personalities and developing strong show formats. As Gordon simply puts it, “We tailor our shows to meet and exceed network needs, and we meet those needs in our unique way – with memorable real-world formats and standout personalities.”

    Gordon Elliott

    CEO

Gordon Elliott began his broadcast career at 19 while studying law at Sydney University. Before he was in his mid-twenties, he was hosting Australia’s number one national morning news program, “Good Morning Australia.” Turning 30 and looking for more adventure, he decided to join old Aussie friends in New York. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect with Fox Network starting up and the beginning of their breakout syndicated newsmagazine, A Current Affair. Within a year Gordon and his Fox buddies decided there was new ground to be broken locally in New York. Together they created Good Day New York, which has become a modern day institution and the model for countless regional morning shows that have since evolved.

It was during this period Gordon created the unannounced early morning Door Knock, a feature that helped propel Good Day to lead the ratings against all network rivals. Catching the eye of CBS, he soon found himself hosting their first daily syndicated talk show, aptly named The Gordon Elliott Show. It was a fun, intelligent alternative for viewers in daytime television. At the end of its four-year run, Gordon went on to host prime time network specials for ABC, Fox and CBS as well as an NBC network series. In 1999, he decided it was time to branch out from his post in front of the camera and try behind the scenes and created his own production company, Follow Productions.

Since then, he has been lucky enough to discover and develop some of the most successful lifestyle personalities on television today, Having produced over 16 different television series, and picking up an Emmy along the way for Best Lifestyle Series for his work on Paula’s Home Cooking, Gordon has helped guide his partner networks into long-standing successful franchises. In 2011, Gordon and Mark Schneider, together with the team at Follow, launched the food talk show, “The Chew” for ABC Network. Gordon and Mark have shared Executive Producer duties for the groundbreaking show, which has become a mainstay for ABC’s daytime block. Gordon has 3 sons and splits his time between Manhattan and his home in upstate New York.
